'I don't believe men should work in fields that require compassion': Female pop artist gets painfully harebrained assessment by male psychiatrist, sparks discussion

If you're a woman, then you're probably already familiar with the absurdity we encounter in the medical field on a regular basis. You'd think after centuries of being mistreated and having a revolution to disprove so, we'd be taken more seriously. But nope. If the anti-abortion governments aren't enough to prove to you that most of the world still doesn't listen to women, then maybe this story by pop musician Peach PRC will. 

The Australian pop artist is popular not only for her music and performances, but also her viral TikTok videos. She provides silly sketches, music bites, and shares personal stories. Recently, she shared her experience going to a male psychiatrist. She admits in the beginning of the video that she does not trust men in any sort of job that requires empathy and that she was going to be seeing a female doctor but had to get assessed by this male one first. Viewers commented that at first they thought her sentiment of men in compassionate job roles was harsh, but after they gave it a thought and listened to her story, they changed their tune. 

Peach was at a CPTSD clinic, which requires a very sensitive approach due to the different spectrum of trauma you are dealing with in patients. However, this male psychiatrist truly just went straight to supporting Peach's viewpoint. Instead of asking her questions to learn more about her trauma or even just her as a person, which is what psychiatrist need to do, he instead just kept trying to one up her. He gossiped about his other patients to her, he talked about his triumphs, and when Peach tried to ignore his strange stories and start talking about why she was there, he would interrupt her and tell her basically the equivalent of "have you tried getting over it?" He even went as far as insinuating that woman's weight is more important than her mental health. 

The harebrained assessment was painful to even hear about and trigged many other women to share their own stories with unprofessional and/or sexist "professionals" in the medical field.
